SHELBY YAMIN

Violinist Shelby Yamin is currently studying the violin at the Manhattan School of Music as a student of Grigory Kalinovsky. As part of the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music program, Shelby has performed at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, and has participated in both the Boston University Tanglewood Institute String Quartet Seminar and the Young Artist Orchestra.  Shelby won the New York State and the Eastern Division MTNA competitions in 2008 and won scholarship competitions for the Arts Council of Rockland and the Morning Music Club. Shelby served on the student producers of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and as such produced their Unconventional Concert Series for teens.  In addition to playing in Cicada, Shelby is giving performances at hospitals and rehabilitation centers around New York City as a member of the Outreach Quartet of Manhattan School of Music.  She is the daughter of Wendy Stern, flutist of Cicada.
