In addition to his position as
Principal Conductor of Regina Opera, Mr. Wiley is Music
Director of the South Shore Symphony in Long IsIand. Under
his nearly two decades of leadership the orchestra has come
to be considered by many to be the finest orchestra on Long
Island. Mr. Wiley is also the Associate Conductor of the
Centre Symphony of New York and Principal Guest Conductor of
the Staten Island Philharmonic.
Maestro Wiley teaches conducting and
Techniques of Music at Mannes College The New School for
Music. Many of his students have gone on to pursue
conducting careers.
A classical guitarist, noted
particularly for his work in Spanish Classical Dance and as
the duo partner of violinist Robin Zeh, as well as an
accomplished French horn player, he is fluent in Spanish,
Catalan, French and Italian and coaches singers in these
languages.
Maestro Wiley studied conducting under
Michael Charry at the Mannes College of Music, under Charles
Bruck at the Pierre Monteux School for Conductors, and with
his father, Jackson Wiley. He studied guitar at the
Conservatory of Barcelona, Spain, where he won
first prize honors. As a guitarist, his principal influence
has been that of Narciso Yepes. |
